McClure Engineering Company is a 50 year old mid size Civil Engineering and Consulting Firm. McClure Engineering Company now has offices in five different locations: Fort Dodge, Johnston and North Liberty, IA, Casa Grande, AZ and Lake Ozark, MO.

MEC is currently seeking a qualified Civil Engineer with primary expertise in municipal/transportation project management for the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City Corridor. This position involves working in the municipal/transportation department as a Project Manager, which may evolve into a Discipline Group Leader role.

Education Requirements:
BS or Masters in Civil Engineering with a Professional Engineer License (PE)

Job Description/Requirements:

The preferred candidate for this position should have a minimum of 8-10 years experience as a Project Manager and currently be managing projects for municipal and transportation.

Excellent communication skills are required for this position. Candidates must be able to directly supervise and work closely with a team in fully developing project drawings. There must be proven ability to manage and coordinate local projects. Steady progress of all projects must be ensured and all deadlines met.

Primary responsibility would be the overseeing of the design of projects and the preparation of written reports. This position requires the understanding of construction systems and techniques so that one can prepare complete plans compliant with industry standards as well as intimate knowledge of project design standards and willingness to assist in establishing new standards. This position will be responsible for directing the operation of the municipal/transportation department including: business development and sales, hiring and directing employees, budgeting, and development of standards and practices.

A high level of customer communication and satisfaction must be maintained at all times. Project Managers are expected to build a solid relationship with clients and be the primary contact for them as well as attend all municipal meetings, including Planning and Zoning and City Council.

Experience in construction administration is required, including but not limited to: contractor correspondence, dispute resolution, construction progress meetings, cost estimates, technical reports and the flexibility to adjust as plans evolve. Occasional travel is required.
