MEC is seeking a qualified Licensed Land Surveyor for the Des Moines Metro area. Candidate will be self-motivated and energetic with a true passion for their profession. 

Education Requirements:
Relevant education or experience along with a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license.

Job Description/Requirements: 
The preferred candidate for this position should have a minimum of 6 to 12 years of experience in land surveying, subdivision platting and row acquisition plat preparation. Knowledge working with and overseeing survey crews is necessary.

Excellent communication skills required. Candidates must be able to work closely with a team in fully developing and overseeing the survey department by preparing schedules that include accurate start and end dates.

This position requires working alongside the Engineering Department to ensure timely completion of projects. Full understanding of field procedures for land surveying, construction staking and existing conditions survey is necessary. Must possess an understanding of the end result of the fieldwork, as it relates to the finished design, and the scope of the projects to limit scope change, and work with the Engineers when additional requests arise.

Requires the ability to control survey projects when dealing with contractors and owners. Candidates must also be capable of handling job quotes, contracts and budgets. Knowledge of local, state and federal requirements for approvals is essential. Occasional travel is required.
